Have you checked the front suspension legs for damage or lack of damping, worn shockers on the back and worn suspension bushes on the back can have an adverse effect on the cars abillity to steer straight and true.

long shot but have you tried putting the car on the MOT brake rollers the checking each wheel and then both at the same time.

From watching the gauges each time it might tell you if the ABS is playing up and make the calipers come on and off

just an update... took the car for long abusive run...heavy braking etc.. and it now seems ok. whether it will last remains to be seen, in answer to the questions, yes the car has been to an mot station on the rollers, no problem with the brakes was found.. and we changed the tires incase it was them. but to no avail.. and now it seems to of corrected itself. which i'm not sure whether it is a good thing or not as we never actualy found what the problem was.... very confusing.... but thanks for all the help..

Right.... I seem to have the same problem... so there is still hope that it will fix itself.... thanks.

Could it be a problem with a certain area on the calliper cylinder or the clipper guides, and now that the pads have worn down a bit more, that particular problem area is no longer on the front line when braking?

Russ, have you tried a different pair of wheels on the front?  Mis-shaped tyre....

Happy to try to help if I can, just call / PM..

Hi guys, New Omega owner here.
I had this same problem.

I tried changing the calipers and the steering stabliser, with no luck.
I then thought I'd try changing the wishbones as I couldn't think of anything else.

When I removed the passenger side wishbone the rear bush fell off in my hand  :o

Believe it or not the car was MOT'd like this less than 2 weeks ago.
To be fair to the garage that done it there didn't look like much movement in the bushes when it was on the car.......

So it could be worth removing your wishbones to see if there is anything hiding

My wishbone bush failed and caused a nasty vibration when braking but you couldn't see the problem until you took the wishbone off.

I tried levering it and even asked a garage for an opinion - they said probably warped discs - they were wrong.....
