Anyone close to you a veggie?
« on: 06 October 2007, 23:50:10 »

I've been with the missus for 6 1/2 years and she's been vegetarian since she was 3 (her mum told her exactly where meat came from and how they do it!)

It's never bothered me too much except we can't go to a steak house - well we could but she would be on chips and a beer. So I usually settle for a brewers fayer etc... I've never made a scene about it as it's up to her what she eats.

I just wondered if anyone else has had the same situation and if it bothered them or if it didn't, how did you compromise?

Perhaps she'll grow out of it. It's probably just a phase she's going through.  ::)

My Mrs is one of these veggie thingy's  :o.
It started about 7 years ago when she stopped smoking, she got over that, and then went on to this veggie melarky. Then she joined the fat club (slimming world), everything has just gone beyond belief.
Shopping has become a nightmare, takes twice as long and costs twice as much  :o (than before the above).
She comes home every tuesday night, she usually says the same, I always answer the same....... "I've lost another 2 pound"........ "Right. pity it's not off yer tongue" (she can do some gobbin off  ::)) still! I can't complain, I'd be lost without her (Gobby Cow) hey OOooohhhh missus.  ;D

But !!! everybody to the'r own  :y

Hi
I think I might be becoming a veggie, it started it about 3 years ago when I got completly fed up with the ever expanding waistline. I went on a diet (terribly sorry old boy, I am a little tired) but I pretty much stuck to it and have slowly lost 3 stone just by having smaller portions and a lot of salads. I still eat chicken and fish but I can't even look at red meat anymore. Who knows another 3 years and I might be a complete veggie.
The only motivation was weight loss, not anything to do with animals.
I am 42 years old 6 foot 4 and reached 19+ stone now about 16 stone, and I was certainly not going down the road of exercise at the gym, and boy do I feel better for loosing that weight.

Life can be strange sometimes.

I have no issues what people eat. I know a few veggies. I also have friends from different religions and beliefs which limits them.  I respect their views as they respect mine. I try to not eat in front of my Muslim friends during Ramadan (I've spelt that wrong - sorry) as that is unfair.

What does get my back up, there are 2 single Mum's I can think of who are veggies. Both have chosen to bring their kids up as veggies.  That I do not agree with.

A few people I know have funny diets - I work with two who do not like spicy food (curries ect).

As to religious limits - I feel it is up to the person concerned to what they eat not what someone wrote in a book years ago.

A know a Jew who loves bacon and ham and another who is "intact" (his sister told us!!)
