Advice Needed-IR fobs
« on: 16 January 2008, 12:19:52 »

Im having my 3 IR key fobs re-programmed at my local drive vauxhall tomorrow (it is tech 1 for these fobs?)

but because i bought the fobs second hand from ebay they told me that they might not be able to re-programme them is this true?... if they cant they will charge me for the time used >:(

They are charging me £39 inc vat for the 3 fobs,if it can be done!
Any info would be great so i have some ammo for them! :y

Cheers.. Lee

I don't see any reason why they would have any problem programming Ebay fobs.  Sounds to me like they would rather you buy the fob's directly from them so as they can take a bit more money out of your wallet.

If they are the right fobs for your car then there shouldn't be any problem. If they say that they can't re-program them then they are fobbing you off so they can sell you one of there's. They can re-program them so you shouldn't have any probs with them at all.

If thats £39 for all three fobs thats a good price more likely to be £39 each worth checking with them. As said they should have no problem reprogramming them. Is that the price to just sync the central locking or does it include matching the immobiliser chip?
You can get them done elswhere e.g. mobile auto locksmiths I have usually found them cheaper than main agents
