An awful evening's Omega breaking...
« on: 08 October 2007, 21:50:10 »

What a crappy night I have had. Chipped off work at 3pm, to go and get some parts of the Elite.

1) Cats - already got a buyer for them (this will be the third set she's had off me, she does something with them for a living!). First of all, spray the cat to mid section bolts, but don't hold a lot of hope - they look like they've been on there a while. Sure enough = they break off, leaving the studs in the cat pipes. Not that she minds that. Then, the downpipe to manifold nuts. Usually 15mm in my experience. Well, 15mm was to small, 16mm too big. And I had no imperials. My spark plug socket (which is usually great for this job) wouldn't fit the nuts either. So out with my "magic sockets" .. these encouraged them off, with the addition of a scaffold pole  >:(

2) Gearbox... while the car was up on the stands, thought, may as well pop the box off it. Only to find someone has nicked the 19mm spanner out of my toolkit, hence I can't get the prop off. Manage to get 2 out of the 3 bolts on the coupling out, but can't get the last one without turning the prop, which meant raising a back wheel (couldn't be bothered).. so I gave up on that job, getting dark anyway.

3) Cruise - nice easy thing to remove, says I. Until the end of the bowden cable broke on me. So there's £65 worth of profit in the bin!

I think I'll wait till I've got some willing hands to help me pop the box off, even if it's only to drag it out and put it in the boot. Then I think, leather, cams and wheels out, (and obviously the gas tank) - and the aircon valve for mark.. and it can then go to the scrapyard  >:(

They are indeed 225s... and they are LLF64's 225s... so hands off :P

I seem to recall someone also gave you 4 wheels, inc 2 brand new Avon ZZ3's, for about the cost of onen tyre  >:(

But yes... two of them were pretty worn ;D

Having said that - you drove down here on the canvas!!

After pulling out of the pub carpark a bit rapid and showering Omegatoys car is gravel, I think those ZZ3s may be down to the canvas soon ::)

I'll go snooping around LFF's car when he's not looking then ;D

BTW, that same person, not only did he give me naff tyres, but when he fitted them (for free), he used the wrong bolts and it made a funny noise.  Fortunately, it was under warranty, so correct bolts then fitted ;D

You cheeky barstweard... you should blame the cowboy that was there before me.. I seem to recall it wasn't just the bolts that were too long, the wheels didn't fit either!! ;D
