att all you diff experts
« on: 16 February 2008, 13:57:13 »

well for a while now i've wanted a lsd  ;) and couldn't find one for the right sort of money well i've crack it sort of lol.

today see's the start of modifing a early monaro lsd which tbh looks very very similar to the miggy diff and guess what it was cheap as chips  ;D propably because there all lsd's of some degree in monaro's this ones from a vxr 500 edition :P

Q1 has any body done this yet if so how much fabrication required

Q2 and if no ones done it can anyone think of any reason why this won't work

thanks mark

I'd check the ratio first. It might be a bit tall...

Just thinking, the VXR has a lower revving engine and a higher top speed. Assuming gearbox ratios are similar (it may have a much higher geared 6th of course) the diff could be radically different. Have a google for specs on it and see if anywhere lists the diff ratio.

Or take the diff you have and see how many turns of the input flange give a single turn of the output flanges.

A 3.9:1 diff will require 3.9 turns on the input for one at the output. If it's difficult to estimate over one turn of the output flanges do it over 2 or 3 and divide.

There may even be a tag on the diff showing the ratio.
