V6 Tick-over RPM
« on: 28 February 2008, 19:43:42 »

Had a number of problems over the past few weeks all of which are sorted, a couple were to do with leaking breather pipes, as each one was corrected the tick-over rpm increased so with aircon on (it is all the time)the rpm is now 800, is the only way to ajust it with a 'tech2' ?

without air con tick over is 500 rpm, with air con about 600-700 and yes a tech 2 is needed to alter the revs :y

Hi Richard.  I have a 2000W reg 2.5 V6 Elite and my tickover can be adjusted manually, there is an adjustment screw on the throttle body just in front of where the throttle cable connects.  It is very small and partly hidden behind the cambelt cover.  I was informed it was only the 2.6 and 3.2 V6's that needed the Tech2 to adjust.  I maybe wrong! :)

NNNOOOOOOOOO!

That is NOT a throttle adjustment.

As per most FI cars, the idle has to be adjusted electronically!

Has someone already tried to compensate by mis adjusting that throttle stop?

Maybe checking that it is set correctly would be helpful.

Has the idle control valve been cleaned and lubricated?
