Clearing Engine Management Codes
« on: 08 March 2008, 00:09:14 »

How do you clear codes without a Tech2 ie when you are diagnosing faults using the paperclip test? Disconnecting the battery for a day or two does not clear them. Thanks guys. Very helpful forum this

You have to fix the fault to extinguish the lamp. When it's happy the codes get deleted after 20 or so 'clean' starts.

Hopefully TB will confirm / amend this if i'm wrong.

Removing the battery will do nothing other than annoy you as you reenter radio codes, reset sunrood and windows.

The EML should extinguish as soon as fault fixed.

Some codes disappear immediately, some after 20 clean starts, some never (without clearing with code reader).
