Part Number - Rear Shocks (standard)
« on: 10 April 2008, 16:35:41 »

Hi,

I'm going to change the rear shocks on my Elite, but after a very long time stood in front of a very confused VX technician I don't trust that they'll give me the right parts.  The guy started to tell me about the number of different options, including police, army, etc etc...  and how inconvenient it is not to use the parts originally fitted to the car.

Anyway - does anyone know the part number for the standard (ie non self-levelling) shock absorber to stick on a 2.5TD '98 Saloon?

Cheers!

Easy one that as all the saloon rear ones are the same without self leveling or sports suspension (makes sense when you think the donk is at the front!)

Just out of curiosity ... why don't you want to replace the rear shockers with the original self levellers? I have self levellers on my car & they they're great, especially as I tow.

Would love to, but, the compressor continually inflated the rear shocks (and I tried all manner of tweaks to the little sensors.  Had the compressor disconnected and have run for nearly two years with only a bit of air in the rear.

Also cost - company gone into consultation in the last week, and still have mortgage, car, new baby to support.  Wife was made redundant this month too.  Been a fairly crappy April so far.

Going to pick up the shocks tomorrow - can't get much worse ie. watch out for posts crying for help tomorrow morning ;)

Oh!  :( Still .... there's only nearly 3 weeks left till May!  ::)
Something will turn up job wise, I was in the same boat a couple of years back. Making Beanz is not as good or well paid as making Metholyptus cough sweets though.
