breather pipe?

Just refitting plenums on my V6 and found a thin breather pipe (or so we think) about 15mm in diameter just sitting there. Any ideas where this has come from guys?? Its holding us up now so any ideas asap will be great. Pics would be even better lol  :-/ :y

There is a breather pipe that comes from the gearbox that does not connect to anything mate :y
