Our 8 year ols daughter came home from school yesterday and asked me if I had ever heard of a story "about a chained oak tree"  I looked at her a bit funny "Er, No mate I haven't!"
So tonight she mentions that we should go on the internet and look for it....

Yeah ive heard of it. If you go on Hex at Alton Towers it tells you the story as you wait. Its about an old woman who asks for some money IIRC and when the owner says no get lost , she puts a curse on the tree and she says summit like "when all the branches fall from the tree you will die" , so he chains the branches up to stop that.

But I won't be wearing the Classic Trainers if I am going anywhere near any fields

Talking of chained oak trees, I remember as a kid going to see the major oak in Nottimgham forest, Legend has it that the tree was Robin Hoods hide out.

That tree was held up with chains and props due to its age

It's still propped up now.   No sign of a tree house though  :-/
