nissan micra sills
« on: 18 October 2007, 13:07:10 »

SWMBO'S Nissan micra has failed MOT on a few bits. All of them I can do except
"Rear (sill) suspension component mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded" This is applicable to both sides.

I am not even sure where I should be looking or how this can be repaired. I presume it is a welding job.

Anybody have any ideas of where to look and how big the job is and whether it would be cost effective?

They used to chalk the faulty area, so a look underneath should show where. Our Micra needed patches on the sills for a previous MOT, nothing serious, couple bits of metal, lots of sparks, and plenty underseal !.

Thanks Ken. I found the chalk marks. Doesn't look too bad. Have also found someone that has a welder for a mate, hopefully a good mate that charges very little  ;)
