rattling heat shields

the heat shields on my exhaust downpipes have rotted and they rattle constantly,it drives me mad.im tempted to just cut them off,any thoughts/advice ? :-/

A pair of jubilee clips around the bottom of them works well also.

good idea,didnt think of that  :y....if i did remove them what is likely to get slowly cooked ?

stopped the downpipe shields from rattling today only to discover that most of the rattling was coming from the lower exhaust manifold heat shield (n/s)it had cracked/corroded around the mounting holes and become completely detached.i have now removed it to stop the rattling but am now a bit concerned that some thing may get hotter than it should. it looks like a real pig to replace. :-/
