Flickering ECU Light - update.
« on: 17 April 2008, 12:47:46 »

I had a flickering ecu light with the codes 73 and 59.

I've got rid of 59 at last after checking and rebuilding the whole inlet system.

I'm now still left with 59 and a new one 57!

The ECU flickers still.  Why is this?

Have checked the wiring to both inlet manifold valves - all correct.

I have gained 57 after unplugging the idle valve and forgetting to plug it back in when I started the engine! doh!

Will 57 eventually go after so many starts?

Still not sure why I'm getting 59 still.  I originally got it for leaving the rear solenoid unplugged when I started the engine after a thermostat change.

any ideas?

57   Idle Air Control Voltage Low
59   Intake Manifold Valve 1 Voltage Low
73   Mass Air Flow Sensor Voltage Low

I assume the rear multiram solenoid is ok?

I've sorted 73 :)

I've tried another valve in its place - still get same code.  I could try the front one in its place?

Yes, just listing all the mentioned cods for ease.

Can you check the wiring back to the ECU?

I assume the idle valve connector and the rear multiram connector havn't been mixed up?

No, there's a very short lead to the back of the manifold.

Not easy to mix up.

Will check the ecu connectors.

Just seems strange as I only temporarily disconneted them...

Codes 57 and 19 no longer come up :)

Still left with 59 - inlet manifold valve low voltage.

Just to double check, this is the one at back of the engine?

59   Intake Manifold Valve 1 Voltage Low

WHich is the rear one.

Measure the resistance with a DVM......it should not be more than a few 10's of ohms.

I get 37 ohms, same as the front one.
