Is this visable and reachable from the engine bay ... and is it easy and not stupidly expensive to replace

Cheers

Easier to get at by sticking your head under the bumper and looking up.

Easy to replace, a two min job

On a facelift its easier to get at with the bonnet open, it clips to the bottom of the bumper below the washer bottle!

nice easy fix then! Btw, if the temperature sensor cable is damaged or disconnected it would (probably stating the obvious here) also show the same 'F' reading. This happened to me after a garage had a wee 'incident' with my front bumper when my MOT was being done... check any crimp/joins/connections inside any tape? Side note, the cable to the sensor seems to be coated with some sort of moisture repelling stuff and is very difficult to solder - if you do have a break or need to join the cable for any reason, use something like jelly crimps instead.

The new one is on and appears to be working ... however it says its minus 26c ... where the other one didnt give any reading at all .... maybe still some water in the connector ....the guy from vauxhall says it may take a few hours to get to something like normal reading ... time will tell  :)

Don't quote me, but I seem to recall facelift ones have to be calibrated?

I just read this thread thinking all the time you meant the temp was reading in fahrenheit, ie. 'F'.

I was puzzled because i have all my temps set to F, and could not see a problem :)

My bad :-[
