No Air From Face Vents in Dash
« on: 10 June 2008, 22:29:07 »

Hi,

I have no air coming from the face vents in my dash. I have taken the centre part of the dash (the heater controls) off and found that one of the vacuum hoses that attaches to the back of the position switch is missing.

Great, I thought, it's just a matter of reconnecting it. However, I can't find it in the dash and I have even removed the glovebox to see if I can find the other end of it..NO!

Has anyone got any pictures, or a clear description, or even going to Cunning Man meet on Saturday of where the other end is once the glovebox has been removed. If I have to, I will replace the hose and all will be OK.

Help me please.

Thanks
Mike

I wonder if I have the same problem, my GLS, the air vents in the centre arnt blowing air but the out side ones by the doors are ok, I was going to look at it soon as the air con needs a re gas.

Same for me, never could find a solution.  Mine looks like it has a hose missing as well but I don't think there is meant to be one there because I've had all my vents working without this hose connected when I first had the car.

Skruntie: Was looking into this sort of thing the other week - its not the sampler fan is it cos I noticed a PC fan mod somewhere round here that sorts it.

Or blocked scuttle drain? Thats what killed my climate control.

I see you've been around a lot longer than me but just thought I'd share what I found.

Good luck n all that

Not aware that it has a sampler fan.  This is just a GLS with the basic air con setup.

Have been back tracking in my mind to see if I could remeber any reason of something causing it, nothing sprung to mind apart from a mate looking under the steering wheel to see what was involved in removing the traffic master module.  He moved a few bits arround but thats all I am aware of.

I cleaned the scuttle drains without a difference (usually cleaning them helps if you can't get any hot air from the vents).

Also checked the brake servo hose on the inlet manifold is connected ok (suggested last time) and appears to be ok.

Regardless of the scuttle drain, I just not getting any volume of air passing through the centre vents, allthough it makes a slight difference with the out side vents shut I should be getting some airflow regardless of vent settings as the fan speed is increased.
