52 2.2 CD Engine Electroncs Indicator Light
« on: 16 June 2008, 14:45:05 »

Hi all, after a few minutes of driving after it has stood for while (several hours) the engine electronics/transmission electronics indicator light (car with a spanner through it) comes on , I switch the engine off and an on again (as it suggests in the handbook) and that clears the fault for the day. However the next day (or after if it has been standing for several hours) the same thing  happens, again switching the engine off and on again clears the fault.
When the light is on it does not go into limp-home mode

Any ideas what this could be?

Be interesting to see what the codes are.  Wonder if injector is leaky, and causing initial rich running or even initial misfire  :-/

Egay.  It does really need a laptop with a proper serial port - usb to serial adpaters are normally too flakey

Dealership stripped and cleaned throttle body, one of the air pipes was complety blocked which they cleaned, and they upgraded ECU from 1280 to 2048 and improved the Cruise Control to work better with the Automatic Trans..

The service desk told me the error code was 1172.

£96.00 all in.

Will have to wait a few hours to see if this has fixed the issue (cold start), the mechanic seemed quite confident.

On a side note, I got an MOT done at my local garage at the weekend who told me I needed 2 new front tyres as they are 2mm, the dealership however says they are all fine saying that they are at 5mm.......
