Folks, i was reading on here this weekend about cooling fans and auxiliary cooling fans but couldn't find out if they applied to my car or not.
I have 1 large fan inside engine compartment and 1 smaller one outside engine compartment either side of the radiator(s) 2.2 facelift with aircon.
The big one on the inside i have never seen moving, even when the smaller one outside is blowing like mad, when temp is up to 100...
Is that right??

My 2.0 had aircon and the front fan worked when hot and and aircon was on.

Check the fuses in the triangular compartment

Not sure if 2.2 is different, but the fan usually runs on for a while after switching off - maybe temp related :-/  But it sounds like yours is not coming on at all  - worth checking the electrical connections at sensor (top right of rad as you look at it - I think), fan and the relay and fuse as already suggested.

Whats the temp like when you are cruising down the motorway?

cruising temp is fine 85 normally, its sitting in traffic temp thats the problem, goes up to 100 then noisy fan kicks in, i thought the other fan was supposed to kick in first (from what i've read anyway)

front fan is for aircon - when aircons on so is this fan.

Other fan is driven by the temp sensor in your radiator - should come on at 90 about

to check aircon fan switch on aircon and fan should start.

main fan: run engine to 90 + temp and see if fan comes on iirc  fan is two speed governed by the temp sensor in your radiator. If no fan then suspect the temp sensor NB the temp guage runs from a sensor at the rear of your engine block

Maybe worth checking with tech2 what the "real temp" of the water is
