No accelerator
« on: 03 July 2008, 22:32:38 »

Have a 2000 2.2CD auto. Have what seem to be the usual problems with the auto box so will try some already posted answers on that one. Latest fault is when running from cold, runs OK and changes gear ok for about 1/2 mile then loss of power - car reduced to tickover revs - pressing the accelerator does nothing. Reverse back home(at tickover) and leave for the day, and is perfectly Ok next day. Has happened 3 timed now, about 4-8 weeks apart. Any ideas?
PS also had the elec seat catch fire (Vx dealer told me to get asbestos pants!!)...Andy

any fault codes ? not sure your car will work with paper clip test but worth a go. Or try, foot on brake, gas peddle to the floor, turn on ignition fully, but do not fire the engine. If it works  the em light will flash out the codes 10 is zero. Otherwise tech 2. Strange one tho.
Others will advise further i am sure. Hope helps. Ps dealer up to usual standard then.
