Valve stem oil seals
« on: 14 July 2008, 11:05:00 »

Should my engine have oil seals on its valve stems? Having stripped it completely I find there aren't any at all, yet the EPC CD shows them and gives the part number as 90410741. It says they're included in the gasket set I'm about to order. There's evidence that No.2 cylinder was burning a lot of oil but not the others.

Incidentally, does anyone have any experience of obtaining parts from Vaux All Parts. I emailed them for a quote on 8 July, and again on 10 July but haven't even had an acknowledgment yet!

Yes, you need stem seals. I bought Elring first, but some slipped and bought Goetze – these are much better.
Compare Elring (taken from the engine without any damage) and Goetze.
