2.5 manual should, day to day, give low 30s mpg (against 3.0l autos low/mid 20s).

0-60 similar, once about 50ish, 3.0l is noticibly more anxious....

i currently have a 2.5v6 manual and get a steady 22 mpg! Round town of course. it did get nearer thirty on some motorway runs but never over.. mind you i have a blown head gasket now (most likely) so maybe it's never been running sweet.

my previous 3.0v6 auto i used to get about 18mpg round town and near 30 also on motorway runs.

basically i concur with the majority. I can hardly find any difference in performance, just amount of fuel used. mind you i haven't compared them with a caravan on the back!

oh and also i used to have a smile on my face when driving the manual hard, and a similar one to pressing the 'S' button!!

Well I currently have bot in the driveway...a 2.5 manual estate and a 3.0 auto saloon...maybe not an exact comparison as the estate is carrying an extra quarter of a tonne in weight or so...

But find the 3.0 more responsive when towing...has more pulling power and drags its equivalent weight (i.e. another Omega!!) very easily whereas the 2.5 can struggle a little at times, usually just on steeper hills...the 3.0 tows like there is nothing on the back!

Also fuel consumption towing...well recently used a 3.0 to tow another car and got about 33mpg on the motorway...in the 2.5 estate recently done a 700 mile round trip...way there taking an engine in the boot to Port Talbot 4 and a half hour journey and returned about 36mpg!!! then on the way back picked up a saloon from Telford and dragged it back to Gainsborough a good 4 hours travelling and returned average mpg from the total trip was 29mpg

So for motorway towing...both are pretty much the same and happy with returns from either! And I'm towing BIG rolling weights!
