am i right in thinking abs tc lights on permanant on dash means abs ecu duff  :-?

Possibly, normally results in the speedo not working as well.

Mine does this quite often and all I do is clean the wheels at my local jet wash , seems to be caused by brake dust build up on the wheel speed sensor.
 Try that before you go spending money on ECU's

speedo works fine ! no tc at all  ::) and the brakes are not up to spec i think ! is it worth cleaning sensors mark ?? :-/

Sounds more like sensors then, most likely front as its the rears that are used to derive the speed signal for the speedo.

Obviously a code read would reveal all.
