Air intake......
« on: 05 August 2008, 13:30:49 »

Just wondering if anybody else had done this mod to their miggy?
I've cut the air pipe in the air box, and removed the plastic exit tube also.
Just wondered if anyone had done this, and whether you'd noticed any difference?
I did it as part of the 3 pipe mod on my vectra.
Just seeing what bits i can do the same on my miggy.

I can't see what you have done?

Looks the same to my 2.0 CD, except the pipe is a bit longer that entrers the lower box from the front bumper?

I did the same on my vectra, someone claimed that it got the cold air into the plenums a bit quicker than standard.
It seems to run a little cooler, which can only be a good thing, but then again, we haven't really had much hot weather.

I know exactly what you mean...

And yes, I did it to the omega (however its now got a cone filter on it anyway)

I didnt notice any difference on either the Vec or my Omega (only had a baby 1.8 vec though with the 3 pipe mod, as the gsi had a cone on it - which is now on the mig!)

3 pipe mod for mig cant be done! single piece air intake!

but you can get courtnay airboxes for omegas now and again on eBay have seen a few Steinmetz ones on german eBay of late

used to have a vectra SRi V6 till i blew it up bought the mig for a 3l conversion but seen sense and decided the mig is much better!

Induction kits cone filters and the likes will do you no favours as they let the engine breath hot air causing hot spots etc and they will rapidly destroy the MAF costing upto £250 to replace depending on model etc

the omegas air intake unlike the 2.5 vectras is more than ample! the reason the v6 veccy has the 3 pipe mod is because the engine is slightly starved of air as standard and this 3 pipe mod allows more air into the engine increasing performance slightly!

but the omegas air intake is fine! big enough so you wont get any performance gains with it and adding cone filters will allow horses to escape from the stable!

just drill a few holes in the standard box if noise is what you want!
