Oil Leak
« on: 11 September 2008, 11:54:41 »

I had a severe oil leak from the rear of the engine which dripped out of the hole at the bottom of the bell housing. On various advice i had the crank seal replaced which stopped the leak for a week. the oil leak has now reappeared with a vengeance and would like to know if anyone can point me in the right direction of the cause of such a flow.

I have already checked the oil cooler and there is no oil in this area. Can anyone help me please!!

Thanks

Can only think the seal wasn't fitted correctly - OR you have some serious crankcase pressure !!

Check the breathers and the cam cover gaskets would be my first advice. If crankcase pressure is high it could be forcing oil out of the crank seal.

Secondly, my suspicion would be that the end of the crank is scored where the seal sits.
