I was topping up the washer fluid and noticed that there is oil all over the engine compartment and one of the pipes carrying fuel is also leaking. probably explains why the car doesn't start first time when left overnight.

Any ideas please where the leaks are coming from, symptoms and how to fix. The coolant is fine no contamination.

Usual oil suspect as you know is the cam cover gaskets.  As to fuel, you tried nipping the union up?  If its weeping (and it looks like it is) then can also draw air back in when idle overnight, hence delayed starting, as you already sussed....

as above, oil leak is standard cam cover gasket issue.

Looks like the nut is not fully done up?

Is the cam cover gasket easy to replace? i.e. after undoing the bolts can you just replace the gasket and refit cover.
Also is there an underlying symptom that causes failure or is it just enevitable?
I suppose the bolts would have to be at a certain torque.
