I've finally adjusted my camber!
« on: 27 September 2008, 17:37:28 »

Now, where shall I start!

Well, Mark DTM and Mr Boy will surely comment on this thread as they've been boll0cking me to get it sorted since Newent 2007!!

Right, used my mates garage today, perfectly level concrete floor, checked each front wheel with a spirit level with an angle meter on it, now, I know that this is a general benchmark and is not accurate by any means, the readings were similar on both sides, 2.5 degrees from the 90 deg vertical.  So, off with the wheels, one at a time, undo the uppermost strut pin until very slack and then the lower pin to allow to pivot with some resistance, tighten up, wheels back on and re-measure after rolling the car in and out of the garage, both now about .5 deg to the vertical.  The car wheels looks right too :y  Next checked the track, 2-3mm toe out :-/  adjusted that to zero on just one track arm so the steering wheel is not totally central.
Car running reasonably straight now.

The only issue is, that, both camber adjusters are now on full adjustment to achieve this with no leeway, so, I'm assuming that having pattern wishbones that they have widened the track of the vehicle everso slightly, which has changed the geometry somewhat, also I think that I have a bush on its way out on the LHF rear vertical of the wishbone >:(  This could be causing the problem!  Plan 1, get some genuine GM wishys and re-bush them, then visit Mr WIM...

Any feedback, suggestions, directions will be gladly received..

Cheers DC  :)

Nice new steel aquired to re-build the press....it will be a modified design to help make it stronger.

Note, the ideal camber angle is -1deg 20' ish.....so there is probably to little camber on them now!

Saw this glorified spirit level advertised in Practical Classics the other night:

Handy little tool as a 'get to wim' solution? I think for 28 quid I may partake!
