strut braces?
« on: 03 October 2008, 12:45:35 »

Am I right in thinking a strut brace is a metal bar that goes under the bonnet and connects the tops of the 2 front shocks?

if not what are those things called? lol I'd like one for my MV6 Saloon.

The Omega chassis is rigid enough not to warrant that, unless, I guess, extreme track days  :-/

Or do you want it just for show?

I'm sure I've seen them available, but room may be tight between plenum and bonnet  :-/

palmer3914 had front and rear braces (iirc) on his 'track day' Omega, and was selling them off before he got rid of the car.

As for buying new, try this lot :- Whiteline

I had a look in the catalogue a while ago and i'm pretty sure they did one for the Omega, Courtenay used to do the braces and roll bars from them, now they just sell on the roll bars

Hi Bappy

I found this site when looking into getting one. http://www.advancedautosport.com/braces.htm

Spoke to someone about putting one on and they said even though the setup on a omega is good fitting one will prevent the slight flexing that you will get on the inner wings and so help to keep the geometry of the suspension better. have a read of this from whiteline.  http://www.whiteline.com.au/default.asp?page=/faqelse01.htm

the whiteline link isn't working but try this one it will take you to there main site. http://www.whiteline.com.au/Default.asp

Hope this helps.

Whiteline only do Corsa, Astra & Vectra; no Omega.

Should we be looking at Holden Commodore and if this is the case, does anyone know the transposition of Commodore models to equivalent years on Omegas?

£100 - £120 for steel
circa £150 for polished alloy

The method of payment is by cheque / cash then he orders them in from for Germany.

He does point out that as these are German and designed for LHD cars he cannot garuntee that there will not be fouling on a RHD UK spec Omega.

He has had some experience of this with Golf GTI for example.

He does need age, model and engine specifications to make sure he gets you the right part.

I rang their number and his wife answered; so he obviously works small time cottage industry stylee from home.
