I've been reading a couple of the threads, and wondered -

What is Limp Mode, what triggers it and how do you know that the car is in limp mode?

I've experienced it on BMW's where half the cylinders cut out and the car runs on either 4 or 6 cylinders.

I've no idea how this manifests on the omega, or how to recognise it when it does.

In normal running, the engine will be continuously monitoring fuel, air, temp etc and adjusting timing for optimum running. When the engine doesn't recieve feed back from all the sensors it's expecting info from, te ECU will go to a pre-determined set of figures so that the engine will run.
The Engine Management Light will normally be on and often the car will run but only just enough for you to 'limp home'

Generally wont allow you to rev over 4500rpm...often caused by crank or cam sensor failure on Omegas...
