I am struggling Now !!
« on: 16 October 2008, 10:01:51 »

I have only had the car a couple of weeks now and its been one thing after another so far  :-[

Not even had it out on the road properly yet

Latest is the Knock sensor fault, however went to start the car last night and all it does in wind over and doesnt fire up, was starting and running fine the day before even with the knock sensor fault, I still have the knock sensor to repair/replace could this be the cause?

Thanks

Tony

The knock sensor may be a "red herring" ... the difficulty starting could be a crank sensor .. this controls the timing of the spark, if wrong it leads to the knock sensor, and others, thinking things are wrong when not .. :(

If you have had problems starting, and rough runing at all .. I'd go for, at a minimum .. clean up the crank sensor, preferably, change it ..  not that hard a job ...

It is one of the very few "bits" that causes a miggy to just stop dead.. :(

Tony...most likely the crank sensor is failing if the cars not starting...just not reporting a fault yet...this would also potentially explain knock sensor (if you fix the crank sensor chances are the knock sensor code will go away)...are you getting any codes other than the knock sensor (code 16 or 17??)??

I was only getting a code 16, I'll recheck the codes again tonight and then like you say clean up/replace the crank sensor.

Quick question were is the crank sensor located?

Cheers
