You'll need to beg/borrow/buy spring compressors for a start.  :y

I can't think of the top of my head, but no, there's not too much work involved.  ;)

The broken off bit has probably fallen off on the road somewhere , they usually do.

Getting the suspension leg off is pretty easy  , 1 nut at the top  , 2 bolts/nuts where the leg joins the hub , and 1 nut on the roll bar link (this can be a bit of a pig to undo)  , unclip brake hose and abs lead, and the leg should come off.

The only problem is an Omega front spring is fairly big and powerful so I shouldn't trust any cheapo spring compressors. I've seen  them come off and it's quite frightening.

Might be best to take the leg and new spring  to a garage and let them do the dangerous bit, unless you know someone down there with some good compressors .

where are you?  I've got a set of compressors around that will do the trick.

You will also need to reset the camber when you refit.  Can do this by marking the strut to hub clearly before you remove the strut.  Not too bad a job really

one thought however is what condition the struts are in.  If they are worn and you are keeping the car then why not replace thme as well?

i really dont know what to do to be honest, everything seems to be going wrong now, last owner didnt look after it and ive been spending a lot out. need exaust, another new tyre in morning, still missing probably needs new dis pack, new brake pads and discs, now new springs, if i was going to keep it long term then yes id spend out but im trying to get money together for 03 plate 3.2 elite.   so avoiding heavy costs.  :-/ :-/

You can probably keep running it with a bust spring , as long as it can't pop over the edge of the cup at the bottom of the spring .

Omega's have a fairly deep cup so you should be ok.

Some cars have a very shallow cup or plate and the spring can pop over it and go through the tyre, but this is unlikely on an Omega.
