fast idle on cold start
« on: 03 November 2008, 19:59:02 »

Hi guys. Does anyone know why I get fast idle (over 2000rpm) for the first 20-30 sec after I start the car? Had the problem last winter, didn't pay too much attention. Now it is coming back with cold weather

Possibly the auto choke, so it warms up quick.

it's to warm up the Cat's quickly so they work sooner and save the planet...nothing to worry about

it does return to 400-600rpm (depending what cc you have) after a few mins yea?

it goes back to normal (600rmp) quickly but is a bit strange to drive for that short period that idle is over 2000. i knew it should go up but should it be that much?
