MAF
« on: 22 November 2008, 18:02:45 »

ongoing issue. I have today checked all breathers and no leaks. I start the car with the MAF disconnected and it is okay, connect the MAF and it will eventually die, idles poorly.
Is it possible that one of the wires in the connector is knackered and not the MAF itself?

Also i noticed that one of the tubes connected to a box at the bottom of the air tube (the tube that runs down from the MAF, there is a oval type black box with 2 tubes). What does this do?

Is it okay to drive the car with the MAF disconnected? Will this cause any pressure on the engine?

driving with d/c maf i reckon is dangerous most of the time the car is ok! but when pulling upto junctions my 3.0 kept cutting out!!!!!!!

Sounds like a naffed MAF do a paperclip test! theres 2 types of maf one with an oval connector the other with a square!

that black box is to do with the v6s multiram system

im assuming this is a 2.5/3.0 v6?

sounds like a buggered maf replace it i got a replacement of Jue V6 but markeymark also breaks cars so he mite have one!

try cleaning the maf with carb cleaner be careful though as the element is very sensitive!

yes the multiram box is important as it greatly increases the tourqe output of the engine! is it damaged?

it provides a vacuum to force the front multiram open/closed

One of the tubes connected to it is broken off, but i think i can replace it.

I have spoke to Marey mark and he has one for me. But wanted to check it all out first.

yes fixing the multiram will make a noticible difference!

a common problem is that the ends snap off the multiram pipes theyre very very fragile!

replace the MAF if you can afford it aswell! i replaced myn and my motor idles alot smoother now
