Its not very often a MAF Sensor packs up unless there's an airfilter or induction kit that uses oil.

Try this test and post up the results, with yours being an 03 car it will be the pedal test

Oops, I have just presumed you've got a V6. Fill in your profile with your cars details ;)

Hmm strange you mention load and that it's sort of ok without any is the car an auto?

If so it could be auto box?

Lumpy idle points to several things check here:

Re-booted the ECU didn't know you could though it was plug and play?  :-/  So not a true re-boot.

I think it's something very simple normally is but I'm surprised the diagnosis guy couldn't find the issue but then thinking about it I'm not most are crap and not worth the expense.

For fear of sounding like a parrot....

A lot of people are starting threads about poor running since the cold and damp weather has arrived. Including me.

I have a perfectly running car again after fitting new HT leads this morning.

I know its a bugger of a job but worth doing before spending money on MAF and dispack etc

are you getting the engine management light coming one at all, i would have expected the MAF to throw up a code or two....

to check:

switch ignition off
put feet on both accelarator and brake at the same time.
put ignition on (do not start)
look for spanner symbol light flashing
count flashes jot down the number and let us know :y

your car has a free diagnostic built in so as said follow pedal trick guide for 3.2 listed here
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1189022687
Count the flashes and post the codes up. Or look here http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/
What diagnostic tool did your man use by the way?

Ah ok, what was the exact code? If you have a new maf it may need to learn the new values. Sounds like Kevin Wood territory maybe.

if sounds like the car is dropping into limp mode, this would give you the lack pf power.....

you NEED to find the code it is giving and cure that first, putting new potentially unrelated parts on a car that has issues will only cause more frustration.

There are posts about the O2 sensors on these cars, this might be a god place to start...

you could check the plug wells for oil in them (alot of people say to check the front drivers side plug but on mine the drivers side were all bone dry and passengers were more like an oil well! )
