I wonder if the chip has become loose and moved in the key ?? .. I had a similar problem on the old car .. fixed by superglueing the chip into place in the key ... :)

Definately worth checking....as always, rule out the simple things.

Other thing is.....do you have a spare key to try

OK, success, of sorts, er, I think....

Changed the fob battery and made sure the transponder was properly seated. Started OK.  :y

Then, changed the main battery as the old one was sounding laboured on turnover. Got a proper GM job. Car started OK.  :y

Went to lock up the car and noticed that I have a lazy lock solenoid on the driver's door.  >:(

Dammit, I only changed the passenger on a few months back! And I hate changing them. Any quick fixes?

Didn't work, I'm afraid. Have to lock the car with a key and then, when I return to unlock it, the power sounder goes off. Tried popping the pillar down before I central lock, but it won't budge. Bleedin' annoying! :(

immobiliser issue - I found if i had both my omega keys on same keyring, once in a while I got immobiliser issue.  I assumed it was both transponders responding and corrupting signal....

Thanks TB. I haven't both keys on the same ring. If it is still an immobiliser issue, I really can't think what to do next, other than replace the immobiliser unit - which will cost an arm and a leg. Can't think of any other way of checking the system out.

if you have a spare key, take MDTM's advice and use it for a while. If that cures it, get a new transponder programmed.

If you don't have a spare key, consider getting one!

Cheers, TB. I do have a spare, but it's only a manual lock type. I'll use it for a few days and see what transpires.  :y

Well I tried with the spare manual key. Started the car with it..fine. Switched off, got out of the car and activated the central locking by manually turning the key in the lock. Went out later and unlocked the car with the same key...Off goes power sounder. And I'm outside without the remote. Sod it! So I have to get back in the house and find the remote to switch off the power sounder.

Hmm, so that idea doesn't seem to work work.

But here's something else I don't understand. When the key in the ignition, I can push the driver's lock pillar down easily and the whole car will lock. I can open the driver's door and do the same. But, if I remove the key from the ignition, it won't push down. This means that, to lock the driver's door, I have to close it reach in from the rear door and push the pillar down, then close the rear door, activate the remote lock and then everything is locked and the alarm is then armed. Guess, I'll have to do the reverse to gte in without the power sounder going off.

I think this problem is going to take a fair while to sort out, 'cos it's all a bleedin' mystery to me.  ;) ;D

Open both keys up and swap the immobiliser chips over ....that way you have the 'other' immobilisr chip and the remote key :y
