Hi all,
OK, brief bit of history, my 2.5 V6 1998 Miggy has died on me a couple of times when approaching junctions and breaking. I took off the ICV, cleaned it and bunged it back on. All was well for a week and then it did it again. This time, I just gave it a quick spray of WD40 (as I wasn't at home) and it was good as gold.
I ordered a replacement ICV and installed it today. The cutting out problem has gone now, which is great, but the idle seems to be slightly higher (maybe 800rpm when hot) and sometimes seems to climb a bit for no reason. If I swap back to the old one then the idle seems lower (450-400rpm) and more stable.
Also today when I floored it joining the motorway, it really seemed to hold itself back briefly in third, then did it again higher up the rev range.
So, anyone any ideas? Have paperclipped but nothing. I have ordered a replacement air mass meter and this is arriving soon (not geniune Vx as too expensive) - does anyone else have any other suggestions?
Top forum chap jimmas is going to come and take a look at some point, but I'd love some more thoughts before he gets here to see if I can rule anything else out.
Thanks for any help in advance!
Cheers,
James
