Spluttering V6
« on: 26 December 2008, 21:23:04 »

Evening everyone and a merry christmas to all.
My V6 is ill and could do with some help from you guys if possible
I have recently had the oil changed also the plugs plug leads air filter and fuel filter but i still have a slight problem.
The car will start and seems to run fine when stood still, but when moving i put my foot down and i am getting a delayed reaction and a spluttering before it kicks into life like its being starved of fuel for a second or its not firing as it should it only lasts 2 or 3 seconds sometimes a little more then it will go.
Any ideas what this maybe anything else i should have checked or changed any tests i can do myself
Thanks everyone
The car is a X plate 107,000 miles

Put your location (and the car details so its easily rememberable) in your profile .. you might live near someone with the right sort of diagnostic kit that will eliminate guesswork ...

No only now and then more so when its warmed up too
If i was in my 80s cortina or escort i would say it was dirt in the fuel or carb or it needed new points or rotor arm or dizzy cap something like that  it runs and revs smoothly when still just seems to be when driving

I know you say the plugs have been changed .. did you do that or someone else ?? The reason for asking is my old beast developed a misfire when the camcovers leaked enough oil to flood the plug holes, all recovered one the camcover gaskets were replaced and the plugs ran in air not oil !!

if in doubt pull the ht leads off the plugs and check for oil in the plugwells,
if there is then you need to clear your breathers
