Reversing Sensors
« on: 02 January 2009, 20:43:08 »

We had some reversing sensors put into our omega salon. Just some cheapo ones off ebay however as the bumper is different on an estate can you also put them onto an estate?

Looking at a set of http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370137840112&ssPageName=MERCOSI_VI_ROSI_PR4_PCN_BIX_Stores&refitem=220334189978&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&refwidgettype=osi_widget&_trksid=p284.m185&_trkparms=algo%3DSI%26its%3DI%252BIA%26itu%3DIA%252BUCI%26otn%3D4%26ps%3D42

Cheers steve!

yes drill a hole and feed the wires, basiacally asking is there room behind the bumper for them to sit there? The saloon had tons of room behind

That would be really helpful

How did you wire it into the car? Its easy on a salon as there is wiring around that rear, however on the estate there isn't so unsure how to get the wires into the top bit?

Don't drill the bumper on 14th cm from the edge of the tailgate towards the midle of the car - there issome extra plastic there. 5cm to the left or the right from there and you are fine.

Also, in the middle of the car behind the bumper are ventilation holes that lead into the spare tyre space - you will see them if you remove the jack. I pushed the wires from sensors through there.

Cheers for that info. Just wondering is it easier to remove the bumper or do it in place?

If taking off, well I tried and failed (was 10pm and started snowing [no garage :(] ) undid the screws at the top (the ones that get hidden when tail closed) however it wouldnt budge much and couldnt really see where else to move items from?
