Good thought - I live in Norfolk so I'm a million miles from anywhere he he.

Basically, if you were behind me - you would think it was a drunk driver in front, its that bad - NO exaggeration!

Thanks for that. Check your pitman arm for excess movement as outlined by vauxfan2k and go from there!

With engine off, do you have free lateral movement in the steering wheel?

i hesitate to get involved, as i am coming in more than half way through your process and dont want to ask questians that go over old ground, but...

1,when you move the stearing wheel, with engine running, have you confirmed the road wheel does not move at all through the 3 inches of play you describe?....
i ask as both my migs had a feeling of play when parked at rest, but with help of an assistent, and engine running we proved the road wheels were moving correctly, in fact i remember standing outside the car, one foot on the road wheel and moveing the sterering wheel through the open window.

2, if there is play, have you tried the grub screw and locking hex nut on top of the box to take out the play, seem to remember as i type, that you have, from a previos thread?

3, if no play, has the back of the car been checked, specifically the rear donut bushes?

if you have already been through the above then i wont be offended if you ignore me,  ;)
