HID foglights
« on: 09 January 2009, 21:31:18 »

Anyone changed their foglamps over to HIDs, I know the kits can be bought on ebay quite easily and am aware over the wash / levelling bit of the law, was under the impression that they couldn't be used in non projector style lense but will happily be proved wrong. If anyone has done it is there any chance of pics?

TIA

Dont see it being an issue on uncontrolled lights like fogs and full beam.....as they are not supposed to be used in conditions where there is good visability and/or other road users are about because unlike dipped beam, they are an uncontrolled light

Cheers, they get used rarely anyway so that won't be a problem, was under the impression that the bulbs were too long for the fog lamp lense but hope I'm wrong on that one

the foglights use the same bulbs as the main beam on the prefacelifts anyway (H1) which are about the same length as the hid bulbs (hids might be longer with the long black plug thing on the end)

and im not sure about which bulbs the facelift fogs are (have to have one off and let people know for defo)

I have done a HID upgrade on my front foglights...only real issue I had was the length of the new bulb, which required a modification to the black twist on/off back cover as stopped it from fitting..also you need to reverse the switching wires as the earth and 12+ needed reversing on mine to get the lights to ignite...I have 6000k in mine which are really bright but are slightly different than the headlights at 4100k.
