91 O2 Sensor 2 Circuit Voltage High
« on: 24 February 2009, 10:18:05 »

Ok the facelift (2.5 CDX) I just got is coming up with code 91...O2 Sensor is the Lambda sensor right?? So potentially what does this code mean exactly...car is struggling to start and engine sounds like a bag of spanners despite having had cambelt kit done 19k ago and just having been serviced...before I condemn the car to history lets see if it can be sorted as its a nice car and I know the engines a known goodun as it came from my old estate and ran beautifully in there  :y

An air leak in the intake or exhaust manifold or even a fouled spark plug,  will cause the lambda sensor to give a false signal. Poor fuel economy, elevated CO and HC emissions, poor idle, and/or hesitation during acceleration are also typical of a failing lambda :y

A faulty Lambda sensor won't affect starting although air leaks, etc. can affect the Lambda sensor reading so i would check the basics first - induction air leaks, ICV, EGR, plugs, etc.

Good stuff, I'll have a look at it soon as...

Guy reckons it was running fine, he sold it and it started playing up as it drove away down his street...now thats bad luck!

Drove it round to corner today. it fired up rather reluctantly...needed some throttle to get it started then idled ok but up at 1000rpm although cold engine so may well have settled back down to 500rpm after a while...runs ok but not really responding to throttle really...accelerates slightly but generally not much, even flooring it has practically no effect on acceleration

Does it sound like misfiring? Could be a knackered lead or Dis pack?

Sorry to state the obvious, but just to be sure (as you stated it's a bag of spanners), have you checked:

Oil level
Cambelt timing/tension/condition
Compression
Spark plugs/Leads
