stiff/jerky steering and rattle from front end
« on: 08 March 2009, 13:01:35 »

the mig has developed stiff/jerky steering while stood still (engin on), it seems ok when driving , also a rattle has developed from the front end and it sound like its coming from the drivers side, just thinking it may be the steering pump, would that cause a rattle, any ideas would be great :-/

from stationary, check steering again with engine revving. Maybe pump tired - and is PAS fluid ok?

That rattle - run the engine with the aux belt off for couple of seconds. It could well be a timing belt tensioner...

when revving, it seems ok,  but took the revvs off and this time it was ok, i think the pumps gettin tired as you said, the timing belt was only don last may, including all the tensioners etc, placed a gated kit on it
the rattle is coming from the wheel area i think although its hard to tell
