This is going to sound like elementals but I have a dilemma, actually it's an Omega Estate. My car had been standing for about a month whilst I was using the company motor to get to and from work. When I came to use my "Hearse", the battery was flat. Fortunately, I had a a fairly decent journey home (and a battery charger as well), and so I jump started the thing and drove home. On arriving there I switched off the engine, and then tried to restart - Nothing, the interior lights dimmed and the multifunction display lost even more of it's pixels!
First conclusion was that it was the Battery which was terminal (Battery terminal?) Fortunately, a collegue was shortly going to scrap his Omega, and said that I could have his battery. I swapped my bad one for his good one, and was away -for about four days, then - dead!
Again I jump started the thing and drove it home. Again when I got home I turned off the engine and then tried to restart it - again, Nothing!
The questions are:
1/ If the Alternater was not recharging the Battery, why was it able to power the engine following a jump start?
2/ Would it be possible that the battery was discharging itself via some faulty wiring somewhere?
3/ There was a blown 30amp blade fuse in the Relay Box. Would this have anything to do with the recharge circuit.
4/ Does anybody know what that 30amp fuse is protecting? (Everything seems to be working without it!)
5/ Realistically what is my problem likely to be? I don't want to have to buy another battery if that isn't the problem.
