electric fault light 2.2 auto omega
« on: 05 April 2009, 23:03:27 »

hi
please help!!!, i have a 2.2 sport omega 52 reg.
the electric fault light has come on. when it first came on i had problems with gears, it would not engage into gear but that is now ok, it drives fine with no problem but the light is still on.
can anyone give me some indication as to why this is on, how it can be fixed and how much is it likley to cost.
thanks

Could be a number of things, which light?

The one that looks like an engine, or the one that looks like a spanner?

Any other symptoms?

Starts first time?

Yup. Pretty much MV6 spec/looks, but with the 2.2 engine.

Obviously whether or not a 2.2 is 'sporty' is a different debate.

From experience, I say not :-X

hi
i agree it aint sporty, thats the last thing it is.. looking at a 2.2 cdx and the sport, the different is the 17" wheels, and the boot spoiler, and the seats really the engine is still sluggish..

it starts first time.
it is the light looking like a spanner not the engine, so that suggests some form of electrical fault.
sometimes it feels like the rear brakes have got stuck in the on postion, but thats sometimes, therea re no other symptoms of the light being on. so any suggestions what is might be?? :'(

you do really need to have your errors read by a tech2. vauxhall will charge you an arm and a leg to connect your car to a tech2 so see if any garage close to you has tech2 facility or failing that a code error reader that is compatible with vauxhalls
The best man I know with a true Tech2 and the knowledge to use and interpret the results is Andy Stockton in Widnes. I recommend him without hesitation :y
http://www.asautocare.co.uk/id6.html
If you go to him get him also to check on your autobox setup the latest ecu upgrade - done via tech2 is awseome
Mention OOf and he normally gives a discount :y :y

Sounds like it could be the cam sensor, but you need the codes read.

If it turns out to be the cam sensor, make sure you replace it with a genuine Vx one.
