I have just been moaned at, in front of the entire office, for looking at the internet when I should be working. I SHOUTED back to say that I only spend a few mins during the day...not like the smokers that spend an hour outside. He walked away (he's a smoker)

The fact that he walked away shows that he is in the wrong

If he persists, Go to HR and report his inappropriate conduct in front of others. If an employer has a problem with you, they should tell you in private.

i've noticed my boss pick at a couple of petty things in our office, concerning other staff, now i'm relatively new and a "keep my head down" type of guy, and part of me cant wait for some sort of confrontation so i can unleash the fists of fury within me that take no crap!!  

only when i know i'm right though, and i dont actually mean unleash my fists!

I treat the guys who work for me with total respect, if i have a problem with one of them i always speak to them behind closed doors, NEVER should this be done in front of other members of the team.

I never ask the guys to do anything i aint done, i dont see it as, me boss, you worker, we are a team, and i think i have the respect from the guys because if i ask anything to be done there is never any question, i look after the lads and that is how it should be, we are all in it to pay the mortgage or whatever.

This bloke who did that shouting to you in front of others is totally out of order and you should see HR about it.

See now I would have laughed at him in that situation, then when he sneaks off for a fag with his mates and they do, go out and give it him both barrels.... ripping strips off people in front of others always gets brilliant results, well the results i enjoy

To be honest, I've never been averse to a bit of ritual humilliation. Keeps the tinkers on their toes. If they don't like it there's always the job centre.

My lot are such cheeky b*$tards. Every 25th December they expect to be given the whole day off, with full pay. And, what thanks do I get? Nothing that's what!!!!!
