opinions please...
« on: 17 April 2009, 16:19:21 »

was looking for an omega diesel estate, but have found quite a nice lpg one on ebay, its a 2.5 v6 on a 2000, covered 94000 miles and is an auto its up for £2195 bin or offers.

Can anybody tell me if its worth it, or what it is worth! or should i stick to my original diesel search?

Many thanks

If the cars a good one with a good service history, and you are looking to keep it for a while, then I would say that its worth whatever you are prepared to pay.  You can get through a lot of money and time bringing a 'cheap' car up to scratch, far better to get a 'good un' in the first place. :y

Offer him 1350 and go upto 1600 if pushed, but I agree with LZ in really really good conditon 1500 at that milage.  You will also have to factor in cam belt change and how much work it will need to be ok.  A lot of meegas are being driven on borrowed time well past their due milage for cam belt replacements...when I got mine it was 56k over the 40k recommended limit ......

that is a valid point :y  If its got new rubber, zorst, cambelt, tax etc etc its worth a whole lot more than if its a heap.  If you are unlucky you could easily be looking at a grand or more to fettle it, esp if you don't diy.

I'm guessing the seller is looking at £1100-1500 + the LPG conversion cost of £700-£1000 ... as his "target".

You have to decide if LPG is worth that much to you. I know that a "new" conversion with top range system will set you back £2000 + which you need to compare to the savings of about 10 pence /mile on fuel costs.
