Omega X2.0XEV cutting out

Hello all, Im a newbie to the Omega but had Astra's before.
Just picked up a saloon 2.0 Petrol 1999 Automatic from my brother in law who  has had it sitting up since October last year. It started with a jump and I drove it 150miles, non stop to my home with no probs. Drives very well. Couldnt hold the charge in the battery so I stuck in a new one. I have since started cutting out whilst slowing down and turning left or right, its also hard to restart in park, it wont keep the revs up, so I switch from park to drive whilst accellerating slowly  :( The EMS light has also started coming on intermittantly. I have done the paperclip test and 0100 came up which points to the Mass air filter.
Not that familar with these engines so I have stuck uo a pic, is that the filter in the box hightlighted?


Also have noticed some oil leaking from the other highlighted area, rubber tube and opposite side, not sure if this is related



Any pointers appreciated

unlikely to be maf, more likely an airleak, or the icv is dirty :y

cheers fella - err next question, wherebouts is the valve located??  ;) I have found another thread here about how to clean it..

Also check and clean/replace the breather hoses as well. Clean the idle air control valve (IACV) thoroughly and refit that should stop the car cutting out.

Thanks again lads, just a note on the intake trunking ontopo of the throttle body, where the large breather hose comes off it there seems to be an oil leak there and its quite a loose joint. Is there a seal in there, does this connection just pop out? Dont want to force it in case I bugger up. See the piccy above, first post

Cheap and cheerful plastic bits I'm afraid.  That connection is meant to be able to rotate, but i haven't tried to disconnect one to see how it's meant to seal.  It should be airtight ideally, but even new ones don't seem too clever in that respect.


The good news is that once the breathers and small below-throttle jet are clear, you shouldn't get so much oil up there.  :)
