due to the dangerous ampage/voltage of the current involved i wouldnt entertain the idea!!! it will blow a small multimeter to pieces a high end robin may sufice but even then id be very cautious the voltage it it can arc!

i believe you can see the coil voltages with a tech2 but having never seen this been done before im not sure?

I was hoping to be able to check the resistants between high and low voltage sides like you would with a normal coil

Have a search. 2a.m.omega had a dis issue, Makaminski posted some values for bench test with a meter. Which we tried but was not conclusive. The dis had def failed on 2 cylinders on opposite banks so the engine still ran smooth but sounded like a subaru flat 4. That and the fact that the dis was visually breaked(plastic split open and rusted coar showing through) seemed a more obvious test than the readings we where getting from the meter. But then i am crap with electrics and meters.

The last one I had fail was as yours split open. This one looks like new. Hence why I wanted to test it. I've bit the bullet now and got a new one with new leads and plugs. If it dosen't run now I'm gonna be be stumped for ideas. Funny you should say about the "subaru" effect. That's what this sounds like.
