Hi,

Its been a while since I've paid a visit here and very glad to see the forums still motoring along.

If I could just ask a quick question of the knowledgeable residents on here.
I've been recently having erratic climate control problems always blowing cold and hard after running for a while. I suspected the sampler fan and have replaced the panel with a second hand unit and the problem appears solved. System now seems to work OK and the sampler fan is sucking. Only problem now is the panel shows an error -- -- on both displays on shutdown. Will this problem eventually clear after X number of start ups or will I have to submit myself to the dreaded main dealer for a tech 2 reset.

Interestingly the fan on the defective unit appears to work very eratically they seem to have some weird drive electronic problem.

You need a Tech2 Or "My Naff Code Reader" if itll talk to climate ECU???

Try d/c the battery for an hour might clear the error too

The --  -- appeared on my car after we broke into the air con system last week...it did it before about a year ago,but despite going on Kevin Woods Tech 2 it didn,t show any faults stored or current...I think it is something within the system that just records when the a/c has been disturbed as mine has now cleared its self...maybee after a set number of starts..just one of those Omega mysteries

Thanks for the replies the system as far as I can tell appears to be working fine I dont get the gradual increase in cooling and fan speed but this error is annoying. I was so pleased with my work until I noticed the error   .I was under the impression that -- -- indicated an error had been stored and thought it might eventually clear after X number of restarts if working OK. Im sure I read this somewhere but cant remember where. Is the error stored on the panel itself or written to the ECU. I just dont want to open a can of worms by letting the main dealer loose with a Tech 2 machine.
If someone had -- -- displayed and no error was found in Tech 2 then I really am confused. These cars really are complicated beasts

Towards the end of last summer I had this problem. Then throughout the winter the -- -- dissapeared. Now the weather is warming up a bit the -- -- error appears to have returned.
All through this the heating and cooling has worked normally and I leave the climate control on all year round, I never use the eco button.

If you do find a solution please post it up as I would be very interested. I did wonder if it was possibly a sign of the gas pressure getting low as mine has not been filled for at least 2 years now, mine does still cool down ok but not as quick as it once did.

Just thought I’d give a quick update to this problem which is now solved and this information might be useful to someone else. After a bit of research I’ve managed to solve the problem of the Climate error -- -- on the display. As posted above I replaced the Climate panel which solved the a/c problem but very annoyingly I had the -- -- on display upon shutdown. Turns out I used the wrong panel even though it did appear to work. There are two Omega Climate panels an early one up to and including 1997 and a later one from 1998 model year onwards. They look identical but they have different firmware and as such are not interchangeable. Turns out I had fitted a 1997 panel to a 1998 car (both have R reg year plate) hence the error. Bought another panel (from a 1999 car) and the error cleared immediately. As TheBoy correctly pointed out above the -- -- indicates a current error not a historic problem logged. The later panels are identified by a yellow dot sticker stuck on the back. Had I known all this a couple of weeks ago I could have saved myself a lot of aggravation. I now have a tested and fully working 1997 panel should anyone need one for an early car. The really odd thing is that the early panel worked perfectly (and has a very good suck on the sample fan  ) but for the -- -- error upon shutdown.
