Air con comp.
« on: 07 July 2009, 21:36:00 »

I'm sure the compresser is not kicking in although I dont know how it should work. The eco light comes on etc. I gather there is a relay somewhere , could that be a problem or will the system need regassing for it to work. Anybody know?

Thanks.

Your air con compresser when looking into the engine bay from the front of the car is the bottom right hand pulley (think it has a couple of circles on the front).
If you turn on your car, turn on the air con, the pulley should be spinning at the front, go and press the ECO button and the pulley should stop. If when the air-con is switched on but the front of the pulley is not spinning there is more than likely not enough gass pressure so will need refilling.

What you have to remember is that the aux belt (old Fanbelt) is spinning around the water pump, crank, power steering pump, alternator etc as well as the air con pump, so the air con has a clutch that engages or disengages when turned on or off.

Hope that makes some sense :y
