Lost keys!!
« on: 02 October 2008, 21:52:54 »

Boy am I in trouble, I have lost or mislaid the keys to my Omega (2.5 V6 1997 estate) and my wife needs the car, the other immobiliser keyfob batteries have run out. My alarm is set so can't open the car without setting it off etc. I don't really want,(or know how),to dissable the system in case my keys turn up.
Any ideas? Its too late to play with it now as don't want to upset the neighbours,(again)!

Any help greatly appreciated!

if you have key, but remote fob not working, then you can unlock with key, open door (alarm will sound) and quickly start car (alarm should stop).

Thank you for your reply but will this have to be done every time? and is there a code or sequence to perform to get the fob I have operating? ( in case my keys don't turn up!).

Hi there. Long time no see!

The alarm will set even if the door is manually locked. If the remote was previously paired with the car you should be able to replace the battery and re-sync it (hold a key down while it's in the ignition switch and turned to position II IIRC).

If it was never paired with the car a Tech 2 will be required to pair it.

Hello Kevin!

Thanks for that I will try that tommorow. I know that the other fob was paired with the car as I used to use it. I will post results!

When I dont loose my keys, the car still runs very well thanks to you!

cheers Kevin,

Dave.

Time to look for the third set of keys? (you know, the ones with LBC marked on them)  ;D

I hope they turn up. :-/

Thanks Kevin but I do prefer a nice engineering brick, as they dont breakup during the unlocking proceedure!

Anyway, the second fob was in the car,(drivers' stash-in-dash locker),who would have thought of looking there?
It worked! so we are mobile again. Have contacted every shop and service to locate keys to no avail, still they may turn up.

Next question is, now I have a working key and fob, how do I get/create a spare set for the next time I loose my keys?

I think blanks are available from the OOF shop. Get the key physically cut or order one from a VX stealer using your car pass (not too expensive for just the key IIRC).

Then you need to get the immobiliser chip in the key paired with the immobilier in the car. Tech 2 job. Regarding the key fob you need to get the right type (Ebay?) then a tech 2 job again to pair it with the central locking ECU.

.. or take some K-Y along to the local VX dealer and say "Doh! I've lost my keys!" ::)

I saw someone do that whilst in the queue once. Walked out 130 quid lighter plus a Tech 2 session to pay for when it arrived. I doubt they could sit down for a couple of days either (forgot the K-Y!). :o

It's Vauxhall's diagnostic tool. Used to read fault codes from the various electronic systems and pair the systems with new keys and the like.

A couple of guys on here have them (Thebox, MarksDTM and Hotel21, IIRC) and will do these jobs much cheaper than a dealer.
