timing belt for V6 special
« on: 17 July 2009, 10:31:35 »

Hi folks, my 3.2 V6 special estate will need a timing belt change soon - I'm just wondering if any one has a recommended source (preferably one who will deliver to aberdeen). Also looking for help fitting it - never done one before. Either that, or trying to find a good garage somewhere between aberdeen & dundee?
While I'm here, does anyone have a recommendation for oil, as it's also due an oil change?
Thanks for any help/advice you can give!

If you fancy a go yourself, try the V6 DVD from the OOF shop, only £3 ;)

Whether you do it yourself or use a garage, be aware, despite what anyone may tell you otherwise, it CANNOT be done properly without the GM V6 locking/timing kit.  Many mechanics will say it can - do not let these people touch your car.

Oil. Vauxhalls own semi synth. Change it regular (every 3k or so) is the single biggest thing you can do to make the car run better long term.  Get a 'trade club' card (£20 per year from ABS), and you can get 4 x 5l semi synth from your dealer for around £32 + VAT, not to mention good discounts on genuine service parts.

Most factors will sell quality kits such as Gates etc. Or dealer for genuine, but quite expensive
